FAQs

What grade levels are you enrolling?

Da Vinci Tree is currently enrolling for Kindergarten, and for grades 1st through 8th. If you would like to enroll with us, you can find our enrollment packet HERE.

We enroll students on a first-come, first-serve basis until our classrooms are full at around 26 students (we legally cap at 30). At that point, we start adding kids to a waiting list. Since we have at least two adults in each classroom, that still keeps our student to teacher ratio to a maximum of 15:1.

What is the average size of a class?

A class could be as small as 12 students or as large as 26. We aim to keep our average class between 26-28 students. Most of our classrooms are between 1,000 and 1,200 square feet so we have the space to do any activities we would need to do, even with 26 children, a teacher, and a teacher’s assistant.

Some of your photos look, well, not professional. What’s going on there?

Many of our photos are of real students that agreed to be featured! Our staff took these photos themselves, not a professional photographer. We’re proud to show real students doing real activities!

What does the name “Da Vinci Tree Academy” mean?

In the early 1500’s, Leonardo Da Vinci wrote in his notebook that “all the branches of a tree at every stage of its height when put together are equal in thickness to the trunk.” In other words, if a tree’s branches were folded upward and squeezed together, the tree would look like one big trunk with the same thickness from top to bottom (Inside Science, 11/29/11). A tree’s cumulative branches are only as thick as it’s trunk. This is an amazing metaphor this is for our children. At Da Vinci Tree, we believe that we are building the trunk, or foundation, of our children’s futures. The stronger, broader, and more diverse we make it, the larger our children’s potential to achieve their dreams and make an impact in the world.

Can we do a school tour?

Of course! Give us a call and we can schedule a time. We have at least four buildings that we would love to show you! We are only scheduling tours after schools around 4:00 PM.

Can kids keep the iPads over the summer?

We handle this on a case by case basis. Only middle schoolers are allowed to take them as we are concerned about the younger grades and screen time.

I’ve heard that all students get an iPad at Da Vinci Tree. Is that true?

Yes. Our school uses iPads as part of the curriculum. All students are given them. In the younger grades, students are normally not allowed to take the iPads home unless they have a disability and the iPad is acting in the role of an “assistive technology.” Starting in the sixth grade, taking the iPad home to do homework is mandatory.
