2023-2024 COVID-19 Information
Please see the links below for important COVID-19 information for the 2021-2022 school year.
In the height of the pandemic, we maintained a COVID update list, had a requisition form for iPad at home use, and updated an entire handbook for our COVID Policies. We are no longer maintaining these resources as the pandemic enters its final stages.
Current Masking Policy
Beginning March 25th, 2022, Da Vinci Tree Academy has adopted the following mask policy after consulting with the CDC.
Wearing a mask while indoors is optional for most students and staff. Per updated CDC guidance for Pima County, the only individuals who must wear a mask indoors are:
those with symptoms
those with a positive COVID test
those with exposure to someone who is positive
Masking Policy FAQ
With masking becoming optional, will Da Vinci Tree be removing partitions in the classrooms?
Eventually, yes. Right now our maintenance team is the middle of two large, time-sensitive projects that will last at least a month. Once those projects are completed, if the CDC guidance for masking in schools is still making masks optional, our team will remove the partitions as soon as they are able.
Will the school continue providing masks free of charge for students who want them?
We will attempt to, yes. At the beginning of March we ordered 400 cloth masks that we wash and disinfect to reuse. Today we only have 50 of the masks left as students take them home or lose them. We will provide free masks as long as we have them. We recommend families who want their kids to continue wearing masks to provide them with masks in the morning just in case we are all out.
Will my child be teased if they wear a mask / don’t wear a mask?
Short answer, no. Principal Roll has already visited every classroom and informed all students that teasing over masks is strictly not allowed. Any student who teases or makes fun of another student for wearing / not wearing a mask will automatically lose a recess break. We are very serious about enforcing masking as a personal choice of the families now that we have that option.
Can I donate masks to the school for kids and staff?
Yes!
If I want my child to wear a mask while indoors, will the school staff enforce them to do so?
At this time, we will not be enforcing children to wear masks for those whose families want them to wear them. It is not an issue of respect (as we sincerely respect the wishes of our families), but an issue of practicality. It is difficult, bordering on impossible, to remember each family’s current preference and enforce that preference.
What about field trips / Catalina Island Marine Institute?
Whenever we go on a trip we respect the masking policy of the venue we are visiting. Concerning the Catalina Island Marine Institute, we will be sending out an update to all parents of enrolled students with the current requirements and guidance.
Does this change the policy for checking kids’ temperatures in the morning?
At this time, no. We have no updated guidance on that portion of our plan. If a child has a temperature of 100 degrees or more, we will still send them home to rest or join their class online.
Will symptomatic, positive, or exposed students and staff be asked to wear a mask?
Yes. Per CDC guidance, anyone falling in those three groups will be asked to wear a mask. For students in this situation, we will reach out to parents to let them know.
