School Governing Board
Science Technology Engineering and Math Arizona (STEM Arizona or STEM AZ) is the 501c3 non-profit that operates Da Vinci Tree Academy. The school’s corporate board and governing board are one in the same.

Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.02, notice is hereby given to the general public that the STEM Arizona Governing Body will hold their scheduled meetings at the Da Vinci Tree Academy located at 8055 E 22nd Street, Tucson, Arizona, Carver Building Classroom A. Meeting notices and agendas will be available at least 24 hours prior to the Governing Body Meeting.
Governing Body Meetings will be scheduled and held on the weekend, typically on the first Sunday of each month at 9 AM.
Telephonic access to Governing Body meetings will be provided at the school.
For the duration of the pandemic, meetings will be held virtually for the health and wellness of all involved. Instructions to join the video meeting will be included in each posting.

Shuang “Alec” Chen has a background in data science, business management, non-profit management, entrepreneurial management, marketing and technology. He is a native of Shanghai, China and has experience working in Asia, North America, and Africa. He currently works for the Pima County Government as a business intelligence analyst.
Mr. Chen has a passion for helping others. He is a regular volunteer at local non-profits and has even founded a social business that provides high quality foods to impoverished people at affordable prices.
Mr. Chen holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Arizona State University, and a Masters of Science in Applied Analytics from Columbia University in New York. Among other things, Mr. Chen provides the school marketing and digital design services as well as business strategy and human resource support.
Governing Board Vice President Matt Roll - MEd

The school’s principal and founder, Matt Roll, has a background in the technology, business, education, and non-profit sectors. Although he was born in Texas and raised in Arizona, his work with large companies, schools, and NGO’s has taken him around the world. Other firms Mr. Roll started currently provide potable water to over 100,000, manage the largest commercial kiln in Africa, and provide childcare and preschool services to the East Tucson community.
Mr. Roll holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from Arizona State University and a Masters of Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. Among other things, Mr. Roll offers his services to the school as its principal, business manager, and primary fundraiser.
Mr. Roll is happily married to Dr. Maura Cotter. They live in Tucson with their four children and two dogs.
