What were some of the changes that occurred during the Renaissance for artists and the work they produced?
At the beginning of the Renaissance:
Guilds
Like in Medieval Era
Masons-stone workers Sculptors
Apothecary-doctors Painters
Eventually:
Artists became “Artisans”-creators rather than craftspeople
Charged fees for their work
Did Self-portraits or sculptures- Lorenzo Ghiberti and Botticelli
Leading families commissioned or hired artisans to create family portraits or sculptures Use of Realism
Nature and three-dimensional works and perspective
