Agenda:

Happy Fri-Yay!  Let’s celebrate another week.  Below is a song in honor of our special day (Math related;).  Press the links below to get started.

Vocabulary/Grammar

We will continue on with Homophone Vocabulary words.  Homophones are words that sound the same but mean different things.  Remember, the spelling is usually different too.  So, make sure the form of the word and the spelling match.

Two more words will be introduced for you to use your Word Web and map out, plus we will review our usage of the homophones: there, their, and they’re.

This is gonna be great.  I’ve still got that catchy Fri-Yay beat in my head.  Ooooh, yeah!  Follow the links below to rock out this assignment.

Reading

In an effort to actually finish The Lightning Thief before the end of the year, I will be reading more.  I would hate to end the year without finishing the book and leave you on an eternal cliff-hanger.  That would just be wrong.

So…, let’s find out what happens to Percy already.  Will he win this Character Vs. Character Conflict?  How will the plot and problem resolve itself?  Let’s find out…

Art (special)

In honor of Mother’s Day, I’d like to inspire you to get your “creative juices flowing” and make your mother something you can be proud of.

Perhaps you already have a gift for Mom, but maybe you just want to give her something no one else has.  You probably want to give her something special and unique--just like her.  Right?

Well, today’s project (which is completely elective) will be for you to make Mom an “up-cycled” Art Creation and card.

Up-cycled is the term I am  giving to this project because it takes old, retired, “useless” household items you likely already have laying around and transforms them, giving them a “new life” and purpose with an artistic flair.

Some people think of this type of project as converting “trash to treasure”.   Whatever you choose to call it, let's just agree to make it great!

In the Agenda, I showed you my creations and spoke to you about the process.  For additional inspiration, refer to the Pinterest links below.

*Note- this is an artistic endeavor and there are no right or wrong ways, you get full “creative license” to create your own masterpiece.  Just have fun with it and do it with all your heart and best intentions.  I am sure your Mom will love it.

Math

Today our learning objective is long division using the traditional standard model you have been introduced to back in the class setting as well as here.

Do review the tutorial as well as watch a fun little video to remind you of the division steps.   Then complete the worksheet that has been provided for you at the bottom of the page!
